How To Make Rava Kesari Recipe?

What about making an Indian sweet for Christmas? This is delicious, soft, and has little crunchie bits to elevate the experience a little more. Of course, this recipe is my mum’s, and she cooked it quickly. It came to about 13-15 squares when cut into the pieces like above.

Rava Kesari Ingredients:

  • 1 cup semolina/Rava
  • 1.5 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 3 tbsp ghee
  • Handful of raisins
  • A handful of cashew nuts
  • 1/2 cinnamon stick
  • 1 cardamom
  • 0.5 tsp orange food coloring
  • Salt to taste

How To Make Rava Kesari Recipe?

  1. Roast the semolina lightly on a nonstick pan and keep aside.
  2. Boil the water and keep it aside.
  3. On a pan on medium heat, add ghee, raisins, cashews, cinnamon stick and cardamon. Toast them.
  4. Add the boiled water to that pan.
  5. Add the food coloring and salt as well and mix.
  6. Bring down the heat, add the semolina and mix slowly.
  7. When it starts to thicken, add the sugar. It will thin down the mixture.
  8. Make sure to incorporate all the ingredients well.
  9. Taste to see if it requires more sugar or ghee.
  10. Once done, remove from heat and flatten down on a plate using a spoon.
  11. Cut into desired shape and size.
  12. Serve while warm!

It’s so delicious, and I went for way too many servings.
